John D. Brock is a consultant with Progressive Healthcare, Inc. in Brentwood, Tennessee. He is a career healthcare executive with an extensive background in the delivery of care in both inpatient and outpatient settings; rural and urban markets; and for-profit and not-for-profit systems.
As a consultant, he specializes in hospital and ambulatory surgery center operations, support and strategic planning; physician recruitment and development; strategic operation of physician-owned facilities; and healthcare business and service line development.
Operationally having built it, developed it and led it, John is in the unique position of bringing real-world experience to clients.
In his 30+ years in healthcare, John is a six-time CEO and COO leading organizations in multiple states with Healthtrust, HCA and Community Health Systems, as well as two not-for-profit systems, Baptist Health in Arkansas and Covenant Health System in Texas.
John is known as a servant-leader and hands-on operator, business developer, relationship expert, physician advocate and developer of people. His resume reflects success in margin improvement and cost management initiatives, new service line development and physician recruitment.
Most recently he led NorthStar Surgical Center in Lubbock, Texas for 13 years – a physician-owned, highly profitable multi-specialty ASC that was recognized on three occasions by BeckersASC.com.
Prior to joining Progressive Healthcare, John founded his own Texas consulting firm, Healthcare Solutions Consulting, LLC with its focus being to find results-based solutions for clients.
A native Kentuckian, John received his Master of Science in Health Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.
He did an administrative residency at Mobile Infirmary Health System in Mobile, Alabama.
